About the festival
VyšeHrátky has been taking place in the beginning of September at Vyšehrad since 2004 regularly. It is organised by DAMÚZA – professionals specialised in the field of puppet, art and object theatre for children and adults. The event, with a long tradition for combining art, play and education, is divided into a festival for the general public including the project “Theatre play-game for Schools”.The multi-genre festival programme is full of theatre performances, concerts and workshops put together to entertain both children and adults. In this way we create an inspiring space for discussion and well spent time.
The project “Theatre play-game for Schools” has a new theme every year. Through experiential activities, children learn about important events in our country’s history in the form of a game. It takes place on weekday mornings.
The mission of VyšeHrátky is to connect art and playfulness with the all-round cultivation of the human being. That is why we prepare a quality program that respects children’s sensitivity and intelligence. At the same time, we also try to engage adults and inspire them to discuss with children. We encourage children to be curious, exploratory and inquisitive. We provide space for adults and children to be equal partners on their journey of discovery.
Diverse work for diverse audiences
VyšeHrátky strives to be for everybody. Including both the creators and the audience. We give space to emerging and established artists from the sphere of quality theatre for children. Simultaneously, we are sensitive to the needs of different visitor groups and try to adapt the programme so that everyone feels included. We create a space where children and adults feel welcomed, respected and inspired. Therefore, we aim to make the festival as accessible as possible and to eliminate both social and physical barriers, which visitors might encounter.
Programme
Some puppet shows are non-verbal – therefore accessible to English-speaking visitors.
The performances are marked in the programme and have English annotations.
